Youth Retreat(: written on 2005-12-21 at 7:48 p.m.
The youth retreat was a short but overwhelming retreat, both good and bad. Let’s start from the very beginning.
Jaz, being very smart, went to join my grp on their “civic district tour” cum “amazing race” after my CIP. Dragging my heavy bag, wearing jeans, walking through the whole journey was an extremely draining one. And when we went back to winsor,
janan goes “when did you come, jazlyn?”
jaz: “3pm”
janan: “you should have came to windsor! We were all there.”
Okay nvm. The journey was an interesting and enriching one.
The BBQ was a success all in all. Everyone helped one way or another. For e.g the tacs girls’ were at the kitchen preparing and making some potato salad. And the guys were all out there barbequing. We had a great time fellowshipping with one other and played some games to get rid of some food. It was really amusing.
Played cards, talked, etc, until we decided to carry out the USUAL welcome we give to P6s every year. But because the current sec 1s didn’t go through it, we decided to add them in too. Things got a bit out of hand and a bit ugly soon. Lots of stuff happened and everyone’s moods began to change. But this wasn’t the end of it. Pastor talked to the people involved in the welcome and we arrived to a few conclusions that will not be revealed.
The talk soon lead to ANOTHER talk but now it was reduced to Eddie, Eugene, Janan, Joshua and myself. It was a very thought-provoking discussion since I personally had a “chat” with the person that talked to pastor earlier on. I’m very glad the discussion didn’t revolve ard a specific individual but all of us. Hence it was a very fruitful, meaningful and honest discussion. Let’s just say we got carried away and we talked through 2 hours! Haha.
Later on, sarah and I went out to have some personal time with God. Let’s say it seemed deja vu. She did her quiet time while I prayed. It started pouring heavily after I prayed the 1st time. I was touched by the prayer and also the discussion that was worth pondering over. After that, sarah teared. I teared, she sniffed, I sniffed and finally when she sang the song “There is none like you”, I burst out crying and she too. We prayed for each other, we sang another song “I love you lord”, we cried together, we watched the rain start and stop, it was time that God touched both of us. We thought it was a short 15 mins we spent outside. However we were so wrong! We spent an hour+ out there just praying.
Anyway after that, some people were already sleeping while we were still awake. So we talked, ate, fellowshipped and told stories in one of the rooms. Some other groups were playing cards outside so yup. Haha. All the way till some pple fell asleep, (eddie, josh, me) But we woke up to go back to our mattresses in the living rooms after that while sarah, huiru, josh, ming keat continued. Slept at 5am+.
So we had a couple of hours worth of sleep and we were FORCED to wake out by all the alarms from the handphones and the incessant morning calls by people. We MADE breakfast and had an impromptu talentime. It was greatly entertaining and all of us had fun. Had a FANTASTIC thanksgiving session. I didn’t thank everyone I need to there though cos I realise I’ll take an awful long time if I did.
Thank you sarah dear! I love you so much. Thanks for everything!
Thanks to huiru, liyun & wantian who made the retreat more meaningful(:
Thanks to Eddie, Eugene, Janan, Joshua, Wantian, Sarah, Liyun, Huiru for the very interesting conversations we had in the room. Haha. Also to ming keat for his army ghost stories. Hahaha.
Thanks to Pst Geoffrey and Pst Beetin for organizing it.
Thank you everyone.
And above all, thank God.
We cleaned up and left for lunch together. Fell asleep after bathing and woke at 7. I’m still fatigued though. Oh well. Got a last full-dress Christmas rehearsal at night tmr.
Christmas in 4 days time!
