CIP CAMP written on 2006-06-15 at 8:53 p.m.
it was an amazingly enriching experience in an unexpected way in these 3 days.
12th: The camp begun with an apprehensive attitude towards some participants we met at the entrance. They tried to get our attention by all sorts of means, "OI!", "GIRL!", whistling and then finally this small boy went "hi mdm!" haha he was so polite and so i responded to him and they all went "EHH! HOW COME SHE ANSWERED YOU AND NOT US!"
Anyway we went ahead to fetch the kids from new town pri school and there were about 20 kids altogether and out of them were only 7 girls.
The ice-breaker games were held in the carpark cos we couldn't go to the chalet yet and jiayu was so blur for the "DO YOU LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR" game! Played more beach games such as "banana ball" which is captain's ball with a banana as a ball. But the banana was squashed in seconds so they ended up using a bottle. Built sandcastles too. Played with my grp and we got 2nd overall!
Jiayu and i had a major problem with our group cos they always didn't want to play or didn't want specific pple to play. Had 2 guys abt our age in the grp and we had a hard time persuading them to play.. And there was this terribly chauvinistic boy that refused to allow the only girl in my grp to play. "if she plays, i don't play." So i pulled in jiayu along to play in the captain's ball to help them and he had nothing to say abt girls being incompetent after that:)
So my grp was rather disciplined somehow during the sandcastle game cos jia&i made them do it. it was really funny cos the chinese guy,ChangShui, who is older than us didn't want to do it.
changshui: i don't wanna do lah. so boring.i wanna go swimming.
jiayu: NO. you sit down and make.
changshui: okay. i make one for your face.
jaz: how bout me?
changshui: okay i'll make one for you too.
jiayu: and our shadows!
so he made and made and we sorta completed it before they all started playing with water. *stares at joce*
And this big sized guy called Vicknese who's ard our age went:
(looks at jiayu)
Vicknese: Are you our mentor?
Jia: ya!
Vicknese: you ah? CANNOT!
jaz: i'm also your mentor
Vicknese: you(me) can. she(jia) cannot!
and poor jiayu got disturbed by him throughout the camp and i had to help her(: But he got his teasing when ChangShui kept saying jiayu is his wife cos he kept disturbing her.
Marcia, Sheryl and I went to make almond jelly for supper from scratch with attribution to my mum's recipe. THANK GOD it turned out fine cos it's our first time making it.
The night was something we all looked forward to cos it was time we could spend alone without the kids. Haha. BRIDGE! Yes. We played bridge; taiti and we crept to the kitchen and cooked this huge pot of maggi noodles and all 7 of us shared. It was so good!
13th: Woke up with no voice at all. It was gone entirely. My nose was blocked and I had no voice. What a wonderful day ahead. Anyway Wanping’s games in the morning was fine initially but the last game it got very chaotic and got us really mad. Oh well. They deserve a lecture seriously. Played captain’s ball (battle of the sexes) cos they were all chauvinists and because of the mentors, we won(: haha. We really stamped their ego down.
As we had extra time, we took the beach tram round and round. And then I saw yk/dan/Kristi/aletheia and I called them! And then they all started to run after me cos they were supposed to pass me a form. Oops.. THANKS A LOT ANYWAY. Met crawshaw who seemed lost and then Lloyd/paul chuan who said they were taking a stroll from siloso to palawan?! Haha.
Amazing Race with the kids was very tiring. My group was a bit mad and made us run/walk all the way to orchid gardens from palawan beach and one group who were in the bus happily waved to us on our way there. Initially I thought we were one of the last grps cos orchid gardens was so empty. In the end, we were in the lead! Haha. And we finished the whole race so my grp won! yayy.
There was this particular girl who annoyed me throughout the camp. She was so irritating.
Putri: I like Rachael, Shu Shan and jiayu. I don’t like you, (me) you (Sheryl), you(Marcia) and you (wanping).
Rachael: why don’t you like them? They’re very nice pple.
Putri: cos they keep scolding. SCOLD SCOLD SCOLD.
(and then she repeats her likes/hates list over and over again in front of us)
Note: I didn’t scold. I just merely didn’t talk to her cos I found her irritating. Trust me everyone felt the same way.
Back at the chalet, we were so tired, we isolated ourselves from the kids as we happily played bridge till tea then dinner. And that ChangShui brought otak for us. Haha. Unexpected but sweet behaviour.. lol. Anyway they were all serving us and we were really thankful for that. Dinner was spent bbqing, telling jokes/riddles, singing crazy songs and playing zong ji mi ma.
Kid: Which goat can’t we eat?
US: goatee!
Kid: WRONG! It’s the missing goat. >.<
Kid: Which cat can talk?
US: Garfield!
Kid: WRONG. Doremon.
It was really amusing but heartening sight to see the kids bonding with us and among themselves. So we played until we finished dinner and we had cup noodles for supper. Taught Cancer/MRT game to the kids and it was darn amusing. They’re so cute! Had our cup noodles supper again and back to the room to play cards.
Later on, as we couldn’t stand our toilet because the girls that used it somehow weren’t taught to keep the toilet clean, off we went to the beach’s toilets to bath. But before that we went to the beach to stroll. It was a beautiful sight with all the stars glittering but I guess fear kinda spoiled the mood. So we took turns to bath, while some kept watch, etc. On our way back we saw a giant centipede and snake which caused Sheryl to scream and then the rest of us got scared cos we thought she saw something. haha.
Played cards again in our nice room and we slept even later that night. We had our fun imitating the kids though. haha
14th: Trust me we could not wake up. And we realise the kids were sleeping too! Haha, the day before, they woke up long ahead of us and were screaming at each other already. So this was a surprising sight. Anyway cleared the place and vacated the place by 9+. Went on the beach tram round and round and we fell asleep cos our sleep debt had accumulated pretty badly.
Bided Goodbye to the kids. After all, they taught us so much and we hoped they had learnt some values from the camp. In the end, we all agreed we preferred the boys to the girls cos the girls were all really annoying.
Well they did give us some names:
Rachael was called the rich girl cos I passed her my phone to call the CIP in charge. oops
Sheryl was called tall girl as usual
Joce/WP/Marcia was called fierce girl I think. Can’t rmr
Jiayu was called blur girl or vicknese’s wife. Hahaha. Poor girl
And somehow only 1 kids called me another name. Japanese. Oh gosh.
Sufie: Are you Japanese?
Me: huh? No.
Sufie: but you spoke Japanese just now!
Me: I didn’t!
Sufie: aikatoh, watashiwa.
And he did call me JAPANESE for the rest of the camp and greeted me in jap. Haha. Oh well. At least it’s not as bad as the other names. Overall it was better than what we had deemed it to be when we met them.

sheryl, joce, wanping, jiayu, jaz, marcia, rach

these are the kids with us! 4 of the kids are missing though.
Went back home and unpacked some stuff before heading to acsi to visit my jnrs at debate camp. Well, we played MRT game! Admiralty! Haha. Yea. Before that we had played the slapping version of it and there was this girl called shimin I think, she slapped really hard! We made pretty a lot of noise which caused crawshaw to glare at us time and again. oops. Anyway we had fun(:
Had dinner with Kristi/Yk at Adam Road’s Market which has the really good nasi lemak and dessert(: Went back home and slept till 10 today.
Going out with jia/sher/aud tomorrow!
My family holiday during the weekend!
Shopping! Haha. I’m seriously deprived. And I’ve been stuffing myself with chocolate ever since the camp since I didn’t get to eat much then.
I NEED TO STUDY! I think im gonna make myself study during my holiday as well.
AHH.. MUG MUG MUG.
